“Someone contacted me from your site; is this legitimate"?
Yes, we are a legitimate company and really appreciate your support in providing “Real World” feedback on our client’s products.
This is one of the most common questions our company encounters. Our approach to beta tester qualification is through a Targeted Selection approach. This means that we gather a group of testers that have prior experience using our client’s products. This group will then test the features of the product our client is working to improve in their next release to the public. This approach is completely different from a “calling all interested parties” approach.
If you are contacted by Real World Beta, it will be followed with an email, our direct telephone number and the link to our website. Furthermore, depending on the method used to contact you, we will have a registered account on the forum or social media site that you belong to. You will be able to review our profile there and contact history with other members.
“Why did you reach out to me"?
The answer to this question is rooted in the second pillar of our company strategy: “Passionate Customer Advocate”. Real World Beta strives to provide our clients with high quality, actionable feedback on their test products by running early field trials. To support this goal, we generally try to gather testers that meet the following:
- Previous experience with the product
- Willingness to commit to a period of testing
- Capture and provide feedback about their experience during test period
- Adhere to contractual restrictions regarding Non-Disclosure and copyrights
“Why wasn’t I accepted for the current beta test"?
Usually, it is because we didn’t receive your response soon enough to be considered. We recommend that, once being contacted, you call the number provided immediately to discuss the testing project you’ve been considered for. You will be able to talk live with a project manager who will, as part of the discussion, help you fully understand our pre-screening and qualification process.
“Why can’t you tell me more about what is being tested"?
In order to protect the intellectual property and marketing dynamics of our clients, no information about the nature of the testing can be discussed until you are accepted, signed and returned to us the client’s Non-Disclosure Agreement.
“Will I be compensated for my participation"?
Although there is no financial compensation for participating in a beta test, there are usually some perks. You will receive both the existing version of the product (and accessory; if being tested) along with the prototype version and accessory; if being tested. You will be testing both for side-by-side comparison. In most cases, you will be able to keep the full production version of the existing product (e.g. “on the market”), but will need to return the prototype version once testing is completed. However, assuming the trials are successful and the prototype goes to market, history has demonstrated that you will also be sent the newly released product or accessory you beta tested as a thank you from the company.
For many, the opportunity to have an impact on a product you have a lot of passion around is the biggest motivation; a sense of accomplishment that the product is going to meet the needs of the customer – you!
